About FlyLore¶
FlyLore is an open data initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing structured information about the art and craft of fly fishing.
The project was started in 2018 with the goal of building comprehensive, freely available databases covering:
- Fly tying hooks — specifications, measurements, and comparisons across manufacturers
- Fly patterns — recipes, materials, and tying instructions from books and fly tyers worldwide
- People — authors, fly tyers, and contributors to the fly fishing community
- Books — fly tying and fly fishing literature
- Animals — species used in fly tying materials
Open Data¶
All data in FlyLore is made available under the CC-BY-NC-SA-4.0 license. You are free to share and adapt the data for non-commercial purposes, as long as you give appropriate credit and distribute your contributions under the same license.
Contributing¶
FlyLore is a community project. If you have data to contribute — whether it is hook measurements, fly pattern recipes, or corrections to existing entries — we welcome your input.
